wii sales chart

If someone told you they would pay you $150 not to play your Wii for the whole month of December, would you take it? That is exactly what every Wii owner is being offered right now.

Wii’s are selling for upwards of upwards of $590 on Amazon right now.

No way i have 38 vc games so I would be losing money.

  • Subrosian

No… They said in the article that AFTER december(in 2008) you MIGHT be able to get a new one and if I’m correct the chances that Wii’s will be readily available in stores in early 08 would be a 0,0001% lol.

  • flamingsquirrel

But my Wii is worth WELL over $500. If you could walk into any store, and grab a Wii off the shelf, my Wii would still be worth over $500. Why? It’s a launch Wii, meaning DMS chip, not that D2C crap.
If you don’t know what that means, don’t ask … right Hey_Suburbia ;)

  • Rob

In all honestly i think D2C is an advantage. It might be “harder to handle” but now that it has support i think it has the potential for many more features.

Anyways I would not sell my wii, even though I don’t play that often I would not want to deal with the process of getting it again.

  • Ben

I have a modchip in mine. No way I’m going through that hell again.

  • flamingsquirrel

    @ ben
What chipset do have? Are you lucky like me, with a DMS/D2A
or you have cut pins, or, god forbid, D2C?

  • Nightshot

And how can we be sure there will be a Wii available for purchase in January?

    OMG

  • skunkchop

This is interesting news, but I wouldn’t do it. I have lots of save data on my Wii that takes a long time and isn’t easy to get. Beating all of Dragonball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 2 on hard mode is EXTREMELY difficult.

  • madigan

You can put all of your saved data onto an sd card. I was actually looking to sell all of my games but now I’m selling the entire thing. I’m really kicking myself though. I saw 3 Wii’s at a BestBuy a month ago and didn’t think to pick up all 3. Could have make a killing.

  • Rob

Seriously, d2c is mod-able now. So it doesn’t matter. Unless you have fear of wires.

And, not need to worry about in-compatibilities since its not serial patch. It’s an overall better mod.

  • http://WiiNintendo.net FlamingSquirrel

Yeah, but a 32 wire install on IC legs?
I’m a novice solder-er (READ: Didn’t have any soldering experiance untill I soldered my Wii) so that scares the hell outa me. And yeah, the 2C key did work with SMG outa the box, pretty much all major mods work with SMG now. Wiikey, Cylcowiz, and YAOSM.

I didn’t find it that hard to mod my Wii, why do you call it hell?
I wanna know what chip hey_suburbia is using. At first I was gonna get a Wiip, but decided on Wiifree, got the equipment (programmer + PC12f629s) and programmed a wiifree with external socket. That was back when Wiifree didn’t even have GC support. Wiifree was the best, till SMG came out, tried an openwii beta most of my games stopped working, as soon as bell released YOASM betas, I started using that. I think he’s working on Audio fix now, he has it released but not on 12f929 yet.

  • Raymond

a new D2C modchip only requires 13 wire (is it good to discuss about modchip here?)

  • http://WiiNintendo.net FlamingSquirrel

yeah, but it isnt out yet, and i still dont think i could solder onto IC legs without bridging any of them.

  • teddybeer

I got a wiikey in my wii – so far I got 15 working copies and I’ll get more and more.

well and they want here 100€ for a D2C chip (they’ll do the modding)

    for wiikey i paid 45€
