EA: Boom Blox, “the physics are better than any game”

boom blox

Amir Rahimi, the senior producer of Electronic Arts and Steven Spielberg’s Boom Blox, recently spoke about the game saying that it uses physics better than any other game he’s seen. In addition, he even said that this title might eventually go multi-platform.

Rahimi pointed out in an interview with that he hasn’t “really seen another game that uses physics as well and as much as Boom Blox.” He added that the game actually spends “the majority of our CPU cycles solving physics. The game, the entire experience is based on realistic physics.”

Pretty strong words considering the number of games in the market that use realistic physics as a selling point. Still, if this proves to be true, it might make up for the head tracking easter egg that the developers removed.

The senior producer also hinted that the game could hit other consoles after its impending Wii release on May 9th, : “Once it’s over the sky’s the limit. There’s definitely the possibility of going to other consoles.”

    Even better than Crysis’ physics?
    YouTube code: /watch?v=VaHS-y_mapQ

Boom Blox uses the Havok physics engine (developed by Valve), the same one in de Blob, Alone in the Dark, Halo Wars, Mercenaries 2, and even Brawl.

But I believe the physics in Crysis is the still the best we’ve seen.

I really enjoy your site but you guys need to do a bit more editing. Your spelling is mistaken fairly often. I’m not english major, but I believe you meant to say “the physics are better THAN any game.” the same mistake was made on the weekly poll. “more THAN i can even read.” I only make this spelling critique because they are silly mistakes that occur often and need to be corrected for this site to be taken very serious; and I want it to be. You guys work very hard, keep up the good work!

And so you are right. I can fix it in this article, but frankly I have no idea (or no access to, not sure) how to edit the polls.

@Roth Havok was not developed by Valve.
