WiiNintendo’s podcast is here: The Wii-kly Fuse #0 – Podcast Zero

by Hassan AhmedAugust 27, 2008

Last night, a few of us recorded the first segment of The Wii-kly Fuse, which is WiiNintendo’s podcast. We made it episode #0 because it was our first time and if things didn’t go well, we wouldn’t post it. Thankfully, everything went well and the podcast is finished. The podcast crew consisted of me, Charmy, queenzelda, and mazer. Durffen from the The Gamers’ Cafe (I knew him from the site we were on previously, Wii Live) also joined us for a while. Even MegaOmegaMegaZetta, who we refer to as MOMZ (his username was actually changed to MOMZ now) dropped in once or twice. If you want a brief outline for this week’s podcast, you can read what we talked about below:

– We introduce ourselves and say our positions on WiiNintendo and WiiFuse
– We discuss Wiigg
– Go over this week’s Wii, DS, and Wii Shop Channel releases
– Discuss recent news stories
– We give our thoughts on some Wii titles, such as Animal Crossing: City Folk, Wii Music, The Conduit, and more
– We discuss our plans for future podcasts

So that’s what you can expect from Podcast Zero, which clocks in at 55 minutes and 44 seconds and the file is 51 MB. We had a lot of fun recording it and it was great getting to know some Nintendo fans. I’m very excited to record future podcasts and I hope all of you enjoy them. You can download Podcast Zero below:

PLEASE give us your feedback and any suggestions you may have for future podcasts. The whole point of these podcasts is for all of you to have a great listening experience and for us to enjoy recording the podcasts. Your suggestions have already been helpful and we plan to include some of them in the future, but if you have anything more you want to suggest or to submit a question for the podcast crew (which we’ll play in an upcoming podcast), you can do one of three things. You can post a comment on this post, you can email me at, or you can post it in the Submission/Suggestion Thread on the WiiFuse forums. I look forward to hearing from you.

Yeah, it was a lot of fun! Wouldn’t it be awesome if we got Mickey to join us sometime?

    @Charmy: Yea, definitely.

Mickey, if you’re reading this, let me know if you can join us. And Mickey, I was wondering if you had any ideas for allowing us to have the podcast playable in a post on the main page, so that people didn’t have to download it to listen to it.

Hey DarkWish I have to discuss something with you. Do you think you could E-Mail me or something?

@Roth: Thanks for the suggestion, I was hoping to add a stream in the future but couldn’t find a good site for it. I’ll look into that site.

@Potatoman: Sorry, it just seemed odd to me when I first saw it and ever since then I never really paid any attention to news about it. From what I’ve heard, many people seem to be interested in it, but I never took the time to find out about it.

Hey guys, I put the podcast on GameVee (youtube for games), and will stream it that way for the moment.

For the next podcast I will set it up to stream and also be available via iTunes.

I’m debating editing video to along with the podcast all the podcasts, what do you guys think?

I’m actually yet to listen to it, I will right now.

@hey_suburbia: Awesome! One thing that I don’t think is necessary is the GameVee video player. There’s already a way to listen to it at the bottom of the post, so that should be fine. As for adding video, that would be cool but I don’t know if we would be able to get it done in time and also I wouldn’t be able to do it. So if you want to do that, then you could. Let me know what you think of the podcast and please let me know if you can join us for them.

  • August 28, 2008 at 5:20 pm

Yeah, I’d love to join in (I’m always SUPER busy), but I can spare an hour for the cast, for sure.

I thought the first episode (pilot) was great. Obviously, audio glitches and other first time hiccups, but I think once we (you) have a format down (with games, segments, etc…) It’s going to top notch.

The Gamevee video was put up before the other audio file, that’s why it’s there, I’ll replace it with the Podcast Logo

@hey_suburbia: Awesome! It’s going to be great having you in the podcast. And the other audio file is helpful. Are you going to add up that audio file every week or if not, could you teach me so that way it’ll get put up faster?

All I have to say is it was great, it was relaxed, but it wasn’t so relaxed that nothing was really talked about so good job!

@Max: You’re the first person to comment on that, which is good. I’m glad you enjoyed the relaxed nature of it. I don’t like thing that are too forced and formal all the time, so I was hoping to just make this fun to record and fun to listen to, and it seems I accomplished that goal. Thanks for the feedback.

Yay, it’s on iTunes! Once I get an ipod Touch, I’ll definitely subscribe to it.

@Emma: I’m glad you enjoyed the podcast. It would be great to have you for an episode or two. The next few weeks I want the podcasts to just be the main crew (me, MOMZ, Charmy, Queenzelda, and Mazer) and even hey_suburbia may join us, which would be awesome. After a few more podcasts, we’ll open it up to guests. I’ll let everyone know when we do. I’ll make sure to remember to have you as a guest in a podcast.
