Ghostbusters: Wii & 360 Side-By-Side

by Bradley DeLorenzoFebruary 21, 2009

In response to the feedback we received on the new Wii and DS screenshots of the upcoming Ghostbusters game, I’ve decided to put up a side-by-side to answer some of your questions.

This is a screenshot from the Wii game (note Egon Spengler on the right):

And below is from the XBOX 360 version of Egon Spengler:

This is proof that the 360, PS3 and PC versions will have a look much closer to the movies while the Wii version will look similar to a cartoon. The environments are not as detailed and the characters are caricatures. It’s up to you to decide if you would like to play what might be an extension of the movie or an extension of one of the cartoon series. It basically comes down to graphics vs. controls — a decision Wii owners always have to make when it comes to 3rd party multi-platform games.

I am, however, surprised that the style is so vastly different between the consoles. I knew they were building the Wii version separately or from the ground up or something, but I didn’t expect it to look like a different game altogether, especially when we’ve had PS2 games like Final Fantasy X, Metal Gear Solid 3 and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas that have been capable of life-like models and large environments. Perhaps it’s a marketing ploy. I’m currently undecided. We’ll just have to wait for more details.

The graphics aren’t a new development, however. According to an old Game Informer issue (November or December 2007, I believe), the Wii version had been set to look cartoony since more than a year ago. The article also mentioned that the game was going to focus on the multi-player aspect, toting a 4-player multi-player exclusive to the Wii.

Thanks dude. I’m probably gonna wind up getting the Wii version anyway, and then buy a XBox and get that version (PS3 is still too expensive) but I really am dissapointed that the Wii version looks too cartoon like. And that’s not even really how they looked in the cartoon. Egon had blonde hair in the cartoon.

You’re right, he was a blond. I Just be careful with a 360, as they are known to break for little to no reason. Make sure you keep it very well ventilated. I think the newer Elites have a better chip that fails less often, but I haven’t looked into it. I have a launch 360 that failed twice (second time was a week and a half ago). =/

I’m going to see how the controls pan out on each version and if there’s any storytelling difference (as far as I know it’s the same story). Achievements/Trophies could be interesting, but the aiming and controls might be more fun on the Wii, so we’ll see.

Seems to me that they think the Wii is a console for ‘babies’ (children), so lets make the graphics cartoony.
    Shame on them.
I’m sure they could of made it look more like 360 version but at the end of the day, all they want is money.

It would be awesome if they set it up so you could use a drum pedal to control the containment unit. Doubtful, though.

Not everyone has a drum pedal, though.

im tired of the fact that they still make wii and ps2 games look alike. they should just build one for the wii on tis own… im sure the wii is alot more capable than the ps2…

It sucks that the Wii version is cartoony, but I’m not suprised. I’ll more than likely get it for my 360 (which I’ve had no problems with since I got a 2nd gen 360) because in a lot of games, the Wii controls just don’t work that great. Waving your arms around like an idiot, getting all frustrated. Sounds like the first time I jerked off.

Hey there peeps, I just wanted to holla and tell you that I found a great site. For those of you who don’t want to spend ridiculous amounts of money on pay-per-view fees to watch UFC 108 online FREE in full high definition. Better then spending $55.95 on it eh?
