WiiNintendo iPhone App in the Works

Teaser Demo showing a WiiNintendo RSS iPhone App.  This is a working app, but if that’s all it did, it would be pretty lame…

At work and on my own I’ve been learning how to develop iPhone Apps.  I plan on creating a free full functioning WiiNintendo App.  I envision it sort of like this:

Top links:
WiiFeed – One Big RSS feed of EVERYTHING Wii related
WiiFuse – Our forums, optimized for the iPhone App
Search – You know what this does

Main Screen:
Current list of headlines

Bottom links:
Settings – Set headline amount, article text size, etc…
Launch in Browser – Launch any page your own in Safari
More – Find Wii Codes in your area via GPS, Find Wii Events, etc..

Real briefly, I see it as becoming a real easy way to view all of the current articles, then if you click on a headline it will bring to a summary of the article and comments.

I’ll post more as the project moves along.

I signed up for the iPhone SDK, and I was sorely disappointed (albeit unsurprised) that it only works on Mac OS X Leopard. Not only do they shut out Windows users (as is to be expected), but users of older Macs. Oh well.

ANYWAY, should I get an iPhone or iPod Touch, I need this app.

Yeah, I have to use a co-workers’ Intel Mac to do the programming. I may spring for an Intel Mac Mini eventually.

I use XP or Windows 7 Beta. I’ve been debating on creating a hackintosh, been too busy though. I helped my co-worker build one, but there were still a bunch of bugs. That was 3-4 months ago, maybe it’s more stable now.

Yeah, I have thought about both the Mini and a “Hackintosh”. My problem with the Mini is that, although I could scrape the money, that would put a car way out of the question for some time. It’s also a lot of money to put into programming when I haven’t even mastered C++ yet. BUT, I have been considering getting a new computer for some time anyway…

Hackintosh… attractive as it sounds, I just know I’d screw up 😛

I guess I could try to use my brother-in-law’s Mac.

Either way… I am likely to get a Touch. If I do, I will definitely be in line for this software.

This sounds great! I have an iPod Touch and you can get this will be on the first page of my iPod for sure when it’s released. Thanks for working on this awesome app! And thanks for showing my news story about the new DSi colors in the teaser video lol.
