(E3 2010) Donkey Kong Returns – Hands-On First Impressions

E3 2010 Hands-On First Impressions with hattrick

Game: Donkey Kong Returns
System: Wii

Following the success of New Super Mario Bros (DS and Wii), Nintendo and Retro are bringing back Donkey Kong Country.  The popular SNES game returns in all its side-scrolling glory.  While it may not have the groundbreaking graphical appeal as it first did, Donkey Kong Country Returns looks great. In addition to the level design we all know and love, there are additional levels that are based on shadows. This adds a new element to the tried and true.  The controls felt great, and it was very easy to catch on.  I played through the mine cart level, reminiscent of the innovative and difficult levels of the original.  The same difficulty is present in this title, though perhaps even more troublesome.  This is not an easy game, but it will keep you coming back for more. If you were a fan of the original, and you liked what Nintendo did with New Super Mario Bros., you will be pleased with Donkey Kong Country Returns.
