Nintendo DSi 1.4.2 Firmware Update available, blocks flash carts

Just a heads up to all Nintendo DSi and DSi XL owners… there’s a new firmware update out. The update will bring your system to firmware 1.4.2, and there’s currently no word on what this new update even does. My guess would be that it prepares the system for the DSiWare system transfer feature for the Nintendo 3DS when that update arrives. I’ll update this post if I find out more information, though everything seems the same for me after updating.

UPDATE: Looks like the only thing this new firmware update does is block flash carts, like the Acekard 21, EZ-Flash Vi, and Supercard DSTwo. Of course, the flash carts can be updated but for now this update will block them. Any other new things added with the update would be behind-the-scenes stuff so no new features to play around with, which is unfortunate. This is the third firmware update and only the first one had a new feature. Oh well, I guess we have the 3DS now.

Not a surprise really with the legal battle going on with the Acekard at the moment!

Some cards already have been updated such as R4i SDHC upgrade and M3i Zero. Already tested to be working.
