Nintendo Not Supporting Free to Play Titles

 

Satoru Iwata has told the Wall Street Journal that they do not plan on offering free to play titles. He did say however, that if they do have consumers pay for an online service or pay more for a game, they will be paying for something “unique and cannot be reproduced somewhere else. Something new, something fun and some surprise.” In my opinion, if Nintendo offers something that actually is unique, I will be more than glad to pay for it. However, if there online play isn’t a step up from the Wii’s, then my money will end up elsewhere.

    This article needs to be modified. It does NOT talk about online play. Iwata specifically is talking about having free games, like how the App Store has free games. You should edit the article.

    Continually Nintendo does what its competitors does not…that is, not offering basic level services. Even Sony offers free 2 play games via Free Realms and those in the free Playstation Home, and if I recall Xbox is starting that up to via Free 2 Play games. First no DVD and Blu-Ray support, no second controller support (if they can even sort out the confusing signals they are telling us), and now no free 2 play games, what else can this device not do?
