Free 3DS NES games get multiplayer update

3DS owners will be able to to download 10 NES games and 10 Game Boy and Game Boy Advance games for free.

To be registered for this offer, you need to connect to the Nintendo eShop before the 12th of August. The free software will then be made available at a later stage.

New today, in a press release, Nintendo announced that some of these games would be updated versions of 10 NES originals including Super Mario Bros, Donkey Kong Jr, Balloon Fight, Ice Climber and The Legend of Zelda.

Now Nintendo has moved to clarify what these updated features will be.

“These will be 2D games. They are not 3D Classics,” a Nintendo spokesperson told IGN. “When the NES games become available to the general public later this year, they will include additional features such as multiplayer simultaneous play. Ambassadors will then be able to download those updated version at no cost.”

3DS ambassadors will also be able to download free GBA games which will be made available from September 1st 2011.

          Ha! I’m thinking that he didn’t get what I meant, and mocked me. I was referring to the 3D Zelda image – the article itself says that the games will not be 3D Classics.
