Nintendo Download – August 9, 2012

by Steve CullumAugust 9, 2012

We have good news! Remember when we only had two new games last week… This week we have… three! Yeah, it is not much, but it seems Nintendo is pushing more of the free videos and discounted games more than new games on eShop.

In fact, they are pushing it so much, they are advertising a month free of the family selections of Hulu Plus on Wii. The offer is only valid until September 23, so head over to to sign up for your trial today.

In terms of games, each console gains just one title this week. DSiWare expands with the action-shooter, Commando: Steel Disaster. The 3DS eShop gets Touch Battle Tank 3D, a game that could have been amazing if only they had included local and/or online multiplayer. The Wii Virtual Console gains another arcade fighter with Real Bout Fatal Fury Special.

The Summer of Mario discounts on 3DS eShop continues with Super Mario Land 2. Get it for $2.99 until August 15. There is another New Super Mario Bros. 2 video prepping you for the August 19 release of the full game. Finally, in the light of the Olympics, Nintendo wants to remind you to check out the cute LEGO recap videos of some sports events in the [free] 3DS Nintendo Video app.

What do you think of this week’s releases? What game gets you excited to play? Let us know in the comments below or in our forums! Be sure to check out the price list (coming soon) and official press release below, and let us know if you download a game/app and what you think.
