Using the 3DS Save Data Transfer Tool

by Hassan AhmedMarch 27, 2013

The Save Data Transfer Tool for the Nintendo 3DS is out now on the 3DS eShop. It’s used to transfer save data from a retail 3DS Game Card to a downloadable version of the same game from the eShop. Mario Kart 7 is the type of game I can play for hours and I wanted to have that with me all the time, so I went ahead and downloaded it. I decided to put together a video showing how to transfer my save data from the 3DS cartridge to the downloaded version. It’s pretty quick and easy, as you can see. Take a look!

Agreed! Wish I had some extra dough to rebuy a few titles.

Same here. I’d at least like to own a digital copy of MK7. Others, I could go either way.

This would be amazing if I didn’t have to purchase the game at full price again. I really, really wish Nintendo would start including vouchers or a least coupons for the digital versions in their retail copies. 🙁

I agree, except the only thing is that you could go out and sell your retail copy after downloading the digital one, and thus make them (and other devs/publishers) lose money.

do you have to transfer it BEFORE open the gift box of the downloaded game?

Cool, But I need a tool to transfer data from my downloaded games to my retailer cards in case my 3DS breaks someday or get stolen.
