Mythical Pokémon Deoxys Coming Soon as a Special Character Distribution and Powerful Deoxys-EX TCG Card

Get the DNA Pokémon via Special Wi-Fi Event and in Pokémon TCG: Black & White—Plasma Freeze

LONDON, UK—April 29, 2013—The Pokémon Company International has announced that the fan-favourite Mythical Pokémon Deoxys will make a rare appearance next month for players of both the Pokémon video games and Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG). Beginning May 8, players of the Pokémon Black 2 and Pokémon White 2 video games can add Deoxys to their Pokémon party through a special character distribution via the Nintendo® Wi-Fi Connection service. Pokémon TCG fans can also celebrate the return of this imposing Psychic-type Pokémon as a powerful Deoxys-EX card in the new Pokémon TCG: Black & White — Plasma Freeze expansion, coming to retail stores nationwide the same day.

Deoxys, an ominous Pokémon with Forme-changing abilities, has long captivated fans with its mind-blowing Psychic-type powers and interstellar origins. Little is known of its mysterious past, but Pokémon professors determined that Deoxys was originally a virus of alien origin. As it plummeted through the atmosphere on a wayward meteorite, the virus passed through a laser beam and mutated to become the first Deoxys.

Making its first appearance in Pokémon Black 2 and Pokémon White 2, Deoxys offers players the tactical flexibility of changing Formes. If Trainers need to make a switch, they can bring Deoxys to Nacrene City and alter its genetic code between Normal Forme, Attack Forme, Defense Forme, and Speed Forme. All of Deoxys’ Formes have distinct appearances and advantages, so players will be ready for anything. The Deoxys players will get via the Wi-Fi distribution will have special moves that players should stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks.

Pokémon TCG players can also look forward to Deoxys, as the enigmatic Psychic-type takes a starring role in the upcoming Pokémon TCG: Black & White — Plasma Freeze expansion. Deoxys-EX, a force to be reckoned with at 170 HP, can power up allied Team Plasma Pokémon and turn opponents’ Energy against them with the formidable move Helix Force. Coming to stores May 8 in conjunction with the Deoxys video game distribution, Pokémon TCG: Black & White — Plasma Freeze introduces more than 110 new cards including stunning Pokémon-EX cards like Deoxys-EX , Thundurus-EX, Latios-EX, and Latias-EX in addition to a pair of ACE SPEC Trainer cards so powerful that only one is allowed per deck.

To participate in the Deoxys character distribution event beginning May 8 via Nintendo® Wi-Fi Connection service, players will need:

  • Wireless broadband Internet access
  • A Nintendo DS™, Nintendo DSi™, Nintendo DSi XL™, or Nintendo 3DS™ system
  • A copy of the Pokémon Black 2 or Pokémon White 2 game
