Are you a fan of video game music? The Videri String Quartet has put together an album full of some of the greatest video game music of all time, including Super Mario Bros., Sonic, and Zelda. Classically trained string quartet releases Portals, debut album featuring Mario, Zelda, Journey, and Final Fantasy like you’ve never heard them before.

San Francisco, CA – September 18, 2013 – Joypad Records is pleased to announce the release of Portals, the debut album of the classically trained Videri String Quartet, featuring stirring performances that pay homage to some of videogames’ greatest musical moments from titles including Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, Sonic the Hedgehog, Final Fantasy, Halo, and more.

Listeners will immediately connect with jubilant arrangements from Super Mario Bros. and Sonic the Hedegehog, the whimsy of Journey, the heartfelt performance of “At Zanarkand” from Final Fantasy X, and rousing takes on the themes from Halo and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. The 14-minute-long suite from Final Fantasy VII will also provide an emotional journey through many of the game’s most beloved themes.

About the Videri String Quartet

The Videri String Quartet is a group of classically trained musicians with a deep appreciation for game music. After their formation in 2012, they’ve been a fan favorite at events including the Rooster Teeth game and Internet convention in Austin, TX and the Festival of Independent Games in Boston, MA. They will also perform at IndieCade in October 2013.
