Get Pokemon X or Y for Free!

Would you like Pokémon X or Pokémon Y for free? No, this is not a spam post; this is for real. Nintendo is ready to give away a free download of X or Y to anyone who registers a Nintendo 3DS, 3DS XL, or 2DS, in addition to registering one of the following games during the month of March 2014: Mario Kart 7, Super Mario 3D Land, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, LEGO City Undercover: The Chase Begins and Yoshi’s New Island.

It looks like previously registered systems and games will not count, as they must be registered between March 1 and 31, so those of you who previously registered them are out of luck. We have reached out to Nintendo on this question, and we will update as soon as we hear their answer.

UPDATE: Here is the response we received from our Nintendo representative: “Per the release, consumers will have to register a 3DS/2DS and one of the games during the month of March. Unfortunately if you already have your systems and games registered on Club Nintendo, you will not qualify for the promotion.”

More information is provided below in the official press release.
