by Steve CullumApril 8, 2014

As you probably know by now, there is a special Nintendo Direct video going live tonight at 3:00 PM Pacific / 6:00 PM Eastern Time that will focus on the upcoming Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. This is hands-down one of the most anticipated games on a current Nintendo console, so the excitement level is huge. Fans immediately began to wonder what Nintendo will announce on today’s Direct video. Here at NintendoFuse, we were no different. Members have been speculating in the forums and email has been going between the staff since the announcement. Below is a compilation of some of the things we are anticipating:

Details about the Nintendo Direct:

  • Approximately 30 minutes in length

Returning challengers to be announced:

  • Jigglypuff

New challengers to be announced:

  • Pac-Man (if not announced today, maybe at E3)

  • Communities introduced to Smash Bros. (like Mario Kart 7 and Wii Fit U)
  • Differences between Wii U and 3DS versions

Sakurai also posted this photo today on Miiverse, as his “Pic of the Day.” What do you think it means?

Other things we are hoping for:

  • Palutena (Kid Icarus) as new challenger
  • Pimple or Zitz (Battletoads) as new challenger
  • Jimmy Lee (Double Dragon) as new challenger

  • Voice-Chat for online modes
  • Spectator mode returns
  • Board the Platforms mode returns
  • Race to the Finish mode returns

Check back tonight to see if we were correct. And don’t forget to join us for our LIVE podcast recording at 9:00 PM Eastern tonight, as we discuss both Super Smash Bros. and Mario Kart 8. It’s going to be a great discussion, and we’d love to hear from you!
