Nintendo to Bring 5 Games to WonderCon 2014

by Steve CullumApril 16, 2014

Nintendo announced this morning that they will be in Anaheim, CA, from April 18-20 for the 2014 edition of WonderCon. If you have never heard of WonderCon, it is a comic book, sci-fi, and movie convention that started back in 1987. Nintendo will have five titles available – three of which have not yet launched. Attendees can get their hands on Mario Kart 8 (Wii U), Mario Golf: World Tour (3DS), Kirby: Triple Deluxe (3DS), Yoshi’s New Island (3DS), and Disney Magical World (3DS).

Now, riddle me this… Why would a video game company ignore one of the biggest video game expos in the country (PAX East last weekend) and then make it a point to go to a comic book convention that is half the size of said video game expo? Sorry for the bitterness. We do not mean to belittle WonderCon; we are just a bit confused by this company we really like.

Anyway, the official press release is below, so feel free to check it out.

Perhaps they’re aiming for a different audience this time. At PAX, they know that their fans and video game enthusiasts would be there. WonderCon is also a big event similar to the Comic-Con ones, not just games, but also a focus on comic books, and movies, which may attract certain movie stars, artists, and celebrities. So you’ll have a more variety of con-goers there.
