Disney Infinity 2.0 Edition “Marvel Super Heroes” Coming This Fall!

Disney Infinity 2.0 characters

The brand new “Disney Infinity 2.0 Edition” was just announced… and this time the focus is on “Marvel Super Heroes”. The game will release this Fall on PC, Wii U, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, and PS3. Don’t worry, all of your figures, power discs, and toy box content will be compatible with the new title. The Starter Set for the game will include a base, an Avengers gameplay piece, two toy box game discs, and figures of Iron Man, Thor, and Black Widow. Other figures announced include Hulk, Captain America, and Hawkeye, while the teaser video showed other possibilities such as Spider-Man, Groot, Rocket Racoon, and potentially some villains, like Loki and MODOK. Apparently over 18 new Marvel characters are planned aside from the ones already announced. And don’t worry, more Disney characters will be on the way as well.

In addition to all the new Marvel content, Disney Infinity 2.0 Edition has many new improvements. For example, the level cap for characters has been raised from 10 to 20, and you can also choose upgrades for your characters. There are new character abilities, such as Thor being able to fly and Captain America doing super jumps. Toy Box mode also has many new improvements. You can use little builders to help build certain things on their own, and you can can customize your own interior for a “house”, including an Iron Man sofa. Who wouldn’t want that? There are also new Toy Box game discs, which allow for more structured gameplay in Toy Box mode. One of these is a tower defense type game, and it’s one of two included with the Starter Set.

There’s also new logic toys in Toy Box mode that will let players add results screens, and even things like a fade in or fade out to allow for a more complete game creation experience. To create a game more quickly, there will also be templates to choose from that offer specific rulesets that can be applied to a game instantly. No more having to add all these logic toys together to create some gameplay rules, unless you want to of course. All of these additions will make for an easier experience creating the game that you want to make.

And of course, there are more power discs on the way! There will be 80 new power discs, split in two waves. Fans of vehicle power discs will appreciate new two-wheeled vehicles such as Captain America’s motorcycle and vehicles like a mini Helicarrier that multiple characters can ride. Fans of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will also love being able to use Lola in the game. There are also new power disc types, such as team-ups (which allow for support characters such as Iron Patriot to appear) and character costumes. But this is just the beginning. A teaser video from Samuel Jackson a.k.a. Nick Fury himself let us know to expect more details at E3. Until then, I’m certainly excited about all the new Marvel items, as well as the new gameplay enhancements. Disney Infinity claimed that the possibilities were endless, and now Disney Infinity 2.0 Edition is really making that claim true. Disney Infinity 2.0 Edition Marvel Super Heroes releases this Fall!
