Got My Nintendo Account?
Nintendo has announced that the successor to Club Nintendo is My Nintendo. In addition to that, My Nintendo is a service under their new account system, Nintendo Account.
First, let’s look at the Nintendo Account. The Nintendo Account from the get-go will be easy to make. You can choose to create an account with Google, Twitter, Google+, email & password combo, or your existing NNID account. Your new Nintendo Network account will work between mobile, PC and your existing (Wii U and 3DS) and future Nintendo consoles. With that there are several services coming to this new account. Although from what I seen, some things here, they have tested in recent months. It will be launching along side their upcoming mobile app, Miitomo, in 2016.
- The ability to buy games on Nintendo’s official website and have them download automatically to your Wii U and 3DS.
- New reward system! (We’ll get back to that)
- Cloud based data transfer between mobile and consoles. As for what this will be, we’ll have to wait and see.
Now for the new reward service, My Nintendo. It appears to be similar to Club Nintendo in the respect that you earn points for purchasing items in the eShop. However here is the classic Nintendo twist, you will earn points while playing. Not only that, you will earn these points while playing on the smart phone apps too. I’m not going to make big assumptions on how we could use these points yet. But given the images we have, it will be a combination of both the Digital Deluxe Program and Club Nintendo (Points for items/money).
In addition, you will be able to use your Nintendo Account at theme parks, cinemas and actual stores (As per Google translation, presumably retailers) for added benefits at those facilities.
Just to be clear, Nintendo Account is your general Nintendo account that you use to sign on to everything, including My Nintendo.
